My name is Ben Davey. I am 30 years old and live in the southwest end of Mitchell with my wife, Abbey, our son, William, and our dog, Moose. I was raised in Mitchell, where I attended Mitchell Public School, Upper Thames Elementary School, and Mitchell District High School before heading to the University of Guelph to earn a degree in Engineering. Today, I work at GDLS-C in London in the Advanced Products department, developing and building prototypes of next-generation product lines. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family at local parks, playing rec baseball and hockey, and participating in the many events West Perth has to offer.

You may know my wife, Abbey, as a teacher at MDHS. She teaches a wide variety of classes across all grades, mentors the student council, and coaches many of the school's sports teams. I am very lucky to have her unique perspective from being active in the school community. Through it, I feel much more tapped into the things that matter to the youth population and young families in our municipality.

My family takes part in just about everything West Perth has to offer—the parks, library, youth programming, and recreation facilities. Every decision made in council chambers has a direct impact on my family, and I hope to earn your trust to help make those decisions.

My family has a long history of community service in West Perth stretching back to my great-grandfather, Harold Patterson, who was very active in the Fullarton community as a member of the school board, township council, and later Perth County Council. Since then, community service has remained a core priority. My grandfather, Bob Davey, was a longtime member of the Monkton Lions Club, and my grandmother, Janice Davey, was a member of the GIRLS committee, which played an instrumental role in fundraising for the current Monkton Arena. Furthermore, my parents, Sue and Steve, were longtime members of the local Kin clubs, serving as presidents of their respective clubs and as executive members of Mitchell Minor Hockey and Mitchell Minor Sports for over a decade. With my bid for a position on West Perth Council, I hope to continue my family's proud tradition of community service in the area.

I am running for council to make a difference in our community and provide the best government and representation that I can for the people here. I hope to bring a fresh perspective and represent the people of this town well, especially young families like my own. I also want to make sure that council actively engages the community. When an email is sent to council, it should be carefully considered and responded to, not ignored. When a decision is made, the public should be informed in a more accessible way. Most people are not combing through online council agendas and minutes; council needs to communicate where people already are in a way that is easy to access.
