My Story
Growing up in Mitchell, my roots in this community run deep with a family history that spans generations across West Perth. I spent my childhood playing minor sports on local fields and rinks, attending our neighbourhood schools, and learning firsthand what makes this town special. My commitment to our community began early, including serving as a student representative on the transition board that guided the amalgamation of Mitchell Public School and Upper Thames Elementary School. These lifelong involvements gave me an enduring respect for our shared history and a strong foundation for serving our town today.
Today, I am raising my own family in the southwest end of Mitchell with my wife Abbey, our young son William, our dog Moose and my connection to this town is deeper than ever. Through Abbey's work as a teacher at our local high school and my own involvement with local rec sports leagues and events, we are plugged into the daily lives, successes, and real concerns of West Perth citizens and families every single day.
My Core Principles
Mitchell is growing whether we like it or not. This growth needs to be carefully planned to address and rectify residents' concerns and to ensure that we can maintain a recognizable town that evolves responsibly and is equipped to handle the expansion.
As a young father, my family and I are directly impacted by every decision council makes. I believe it is crucial to have someone represent our town who is directly connected to the issues facing all of the young families across West Perth.
Council must represent and act on behalf of the residents of West Perth. That can only be done by listening to their concerns and actually acting on their feedback. If elected, I vow to always listen and do everything within my power to ensure that the people of West Perth feel like council is working for them.
My Motivation
Like many of you, I have had interactions with Council that left me feeling unheard. I am running to make sure that the people in this community never have to feel that way. I want to provide an open ear within council to be certain that everyone in West Perth has the opportunity to be listened to throughout the entire process of governing.
West Perth has a certain charm that has given me an amazing environment to grow up in and to live in to this day. I am running to ensure we can maintain that charm through our municipality's growth so that my children can have the same positive experiences I did.
Most importantly, I am running to bring an active, grounded perspective to local government, working to shape practical solutions that keep our community a thriving, supportive place for residents to live and for the next generation to grow up in.
My Promises
Municipal council works for the people that live here. If elected, I vow to always listen and respond to your concerns. No more unanswered emails from citizens to council.
Council activities and decisions should be better communicated and people need a more accessible way to interact and be informed by council. If elected, I promise to do everything in my power to keep the people of West Perth informed and engaged. This will include a monthly newsletter, frequent social media and blog posts, open access to my personal phone number and much more.
Small communities like West Perth are at risk of stagnation and dying out if not managed with a responsible plan for the future. If elected, I will make sure that West Perth is providing the best possible place to live while maintaining fiscal responsibility. This includes our parks, our downtown core, our recreation programming and so much more.
